The clearcoat on todays cars is not enough to protect the paint. Do not wash with dish soap, this can damage the clearcoat. Only use specially formulated soap for auto finishes. The waxes and polishes today can react to dirt, old wax, and leave a cloudy finish if the car is not properly cleaned. Use a lamb`s wool mitt or a soft sponge in soap solution meant for cleaning cars. One tip is a spoonful of salad oil to your soap bucket. This softens the water and allows the dirt to slide off. Wash car in a cool shady spot to avoid soap drying and water spots. Wash in sections and rinse thoroughly before going on to another section. Use clean terry towel to dry. A clay bar will remove impurities before waxing. Next is the wax, as in washing, do it in a cool shady spot. Do sections at a time. Refer to wax manufactures application procedures. Remove wax with microfiber or terry cloth towel. A nicely waxed car will show a uniformed shine and the hardened wax will protect the car from the elements. Also, you will enjoy a nice shiny ride.
