The last Jetta TDI sold in the U.S. was the 2006 model, which had a 1.9-liter 4-cylinder diesel with 100 horsepower that was rated at 30 mpg city, 38 mpg highway. For 2008, the Jetta TDI is 50-state emission certified with a 2.0-liter diesel that uses a variable-geometry turbocharger to help produce 140 horsepower and features a selective catalytic reduction system that produces 60% fewer emissions than the previous model. The standard transmission is a 6-speed manual.
