Hello Luke,
I am having a problem with my driver side window on my '05 NB convertible. When I open the door the window goes back up before I shut the door. I am then unable to shut the door properly until I have pushed the unlock button on the key fob twice. I have had the car in on several occasions yet it doesn't do it at the dealership, of course!
Have you ever heard of this problem and if so do you have any ideas how to fix it? I would be eternally grateful for any suggestions.
I love my beetle but the window thing is driving me crazy!
Thanks,
Jennifer in Ventura (From the GEO lab class)

Good to hear from your. Hope your class is going well - only a few weeks remaining in the semester.
On your 'vert: I have not had that particular problem, but have had a drivers window problem somewhat similar. My 'vert is a 2003 and I have been told that the program/software on later models is a bit different.
On my drivers door window (after about two years) the window drop that occurs when you pull the door handle began to decrease until the edge of the window was rubbing on the canvas top when the door was opened or closed. Barber VW took care of the problem and even replaced the damaged edging along the canvas top. Apparently there is a kit for such things which indicates that this problem was common.
I have been told that there can be some additional 'programing' of the later models in regards to the window ups/downs. For the time being I would suggest that you use the key-in-the-door method of dropping the windows (as you unlock) so you don't damage the edging on the canvas.
This is not much help to your particluar problem. It seems to me that the dealer should be able to check the 'programs', if I understand the process correctly.
Has anyone else with a 'vert experiences Jennifer's window problem?
- Luke
Never had that type of problem, but did have the motor and regulator replaced a few years back because the window would not go down all the way. Mine is a 2003 also, with the older software where the window drops with the opening of the door with the handle. Yours is the updated software where the window drops when you unlock the door with the remote. Maybe the software has a BUG in it and is not working properly. Good luck.

P.S. Just checked some of the posts on NEWBEETLE.ORG and they said they had the window motor replaced. The description of there problem is very similar to yours.

I have never had that problem with any of my convertibles, but it should be under warranty, shouldn't it??

Thank you evryone for the suggestions. I'll check out the new beetle website. I hope I get this resolved soon. I only have 15,000 left in the warranty.
Have a great holiday!

Let us know how you make out with that. I have a 2004 convertible, and have not had that problem so far.
