Recently installed ECS Tuning's KVW100 which allows you to roll windows up and down via your key remote :D Initially I was under the impression that doing so would block access to making other changes to the CCM via VAG-COM. Once I got the serial port up and running on my computer (don't ask) and was actually able to test the VAG-COM functions... woohoo!!!

Now I can leave the windows down on my NBC when I leave the car, press the lock button and watch my windows go up :happy093:

Modest investment for miles of smiles.

Here's the site (http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/pagebuild_v2.cgi?searchstring=kvw100&searchqt=byvehicle&make=Volkswagen&model=New+Beetle&submodel=&engine=2.5L)

The flash loader is $59.95 + tax. The site indicates there was nothing for the 2.5L, but you can email Chris Root [croot@ecstuning.com] and he would be able to tell you.

There is supposed to be a way (I tried) to make the changes via a laptop, cable, and Vagpro (no longer marketed) but I was unable to get connected so the $60 was worth it :char042:

There used to be something like that for the Beetle (I got it when it came out years ago) by a company called "Alien....something". I can't remember the full name. It was a device that you hardwired in to the drivers door wiring harness and it let you do all sorts of cool things like automatically venting the windows when you locked the car, etc. Mine just stopped working one day, and until I read this post, I had honestly forgotten all about it.

Yep, Alientech (http://www.alientech.net/) makes a circuit board that installs inside the doors' window wiring. Looks like they've added some new venting features too. The ECS unit actually flashes the control module with the appropriate code, so the only way it can fail is if the CCM fails. The coding can be restored as quickly as it was loaded, but it is a one-time flash. If I ever figure out how to get the Vagpro program to work I might just try that route (I like to fiddle).

Ross-Tech just upgraded to VCDS RELEASE 805, I have been using my brothers HEX-KEY USB connector. Is there any instruction anywhere to do the many upgrades to the car???

Good question Mike. I hadn't even checked. And after running down to the garage... :music021: the answer is no. I would guess there is a switch tied directly to the door handle initiating the drop sequence.

Most of the changes are through channel 46 (convenience control) which allows you to access how the doors lock and alarm arms/disarms. Once you enter the channel you select coding. The possible changes are listed as popups when your cursor stops over them! You can also go to the ross-tech wiki site.
