Gauges!!I want to know whats going on under the hood!!

I want to install A set of gauges on the dash of my 2001 NB but have not been able to locate them. I have seen them on other NBs, and really liked how they looked. Also, hew do you install them?

Congrats on the purchase of your New Beetle. You didn't give us a year or color.

I have not installed the gauges, but plan to. However, I have investigated gauge pods for the Beetle. There are two types: here is a photo of the two types. The most popular is the center dash mount with 3 holes, but another alternative is the pillar mount with 2 openings.

I also wanted more information but did not want to add, wire, plumb additional gauges. I ended up with a ScanGauge II.

It plugs into the OBDII port and reads out four data points that you pick. I think default are MPH, MPG, RPM, and water temperature. I reprogrammed mine to have voltage instead of MPH.

I have my ScanGauge II attached with velcro in front of the gear shift.

Thanks for the info... the scan gauge is awesome. I will definitely consider it when the time comes.

I have the three gauge pod on my 2001 with Water Temp / Oil Pressure / and Voltmeter. Mine was installed by my local VW dealer.
