Well, I got my recall R6 letter in the mail, KNEWBUG will go to Neftin VW in Thousand Oaks Saturday to have them replaced. I have been having the Airbag light come on in the past 2 months. Was clearing them with my Vag-com, I thought I would have to replace the left one myself, now the dealer will do it for free!!!

Hmm. I didn't get one. Maybe it only effects certain model years?

Ah. I think I should contact the person that bought BHRIFIC. That was a 2004. I would imagine that i would have received a letter if mine was part of the recall, no?

When you sold, did you notify VW of the transfer??? Transfer warranty??? If you did, they should have the new owners info.

It took the mechanic 2 1/2 hours to remove the fenders and fender liners and front body part to replace the crash sensors. Then put it all back together again.

i had mine replaced on Wednesday...it took 3 1/2 hours because both frontal crash sensors were not responding...then when i left my front blinkers were not working...i had to go back so they could put the front marker lights back on...i had looked into the airbag sensors a few months ago and would have had to pay over $1k to fix them

No, I didn't.

I had no idea we could do that. I will need to check into that!
Thanks

Yup! Got my recall letter for Sky Pod (first year 2003 'vert).

I hope that mine does not need replacing - sounds terrible to tear off so many parts from a perfect all original 5 year old car that way. Afterall that's one of my babies!

But, I guess that there is a functional reason that has to do with safe operation and the protection of passengers.

Anyone know if all the bug years listed NEED this repair?

I've never had any light come on for this car since it was new. Mike, did your sensor lights ever come on?

Luke,

Yes, it has been coming on for the past two months. I have a Vag-com and the code said intermittent/no signal from the left front crash sensor. I thought I would have to fix my self. Then, the letter came, a sigh of relief, VW fixed for free.

If your airbag light is on you need it, if not it doesnt hurt to take it to the dealer anyway since it is free
