If any of you are even halfway considering going to Roswell for the New Beetle only event during June 25-28, 2009 please make your room reservations soon at the Best Western Sally Port Hotel in Roswell (phone:575-622-6430, and remember to ask for the 'New Beetles Return to Roswell' room rate). Recall that 2009 marks the 10th year since several hundred New Beetles first congregated in Rowell to visit the Mothership. Stay tuned for details on the SoCal 'carabug' out and back from Roswell.

Also included (below) is the newest information from Earl who is organizing the weekend events for 2009. You will need a room for Thurs (June 25th), Fri (26th) and Sat (27th). There will be a group breakfast on Sunday 28th before all the Beetles depart back to their respective corners of the nation.

half were all ready taken. I'll try to call early next week and find
out where we sit. They told me that I could reserve more rooms if I
needed them, but that was quite a while ago. If it is getting close
I'll try to get some more reserved. I know that the three-on-three
basketball tournament is taking place on our weekend and that is a
pretty big deal. I strongly suggest that you book your room now just
in case. You can back out up to June 11th, 2009 without a penalty.
Make sure and ask for the "New Beetles Return to Roswell" discount."

FYI the area code in Roswell has changed to 575. I reserved my room today! I am so excited!I asked how many rooms were left and she said put me on hold and then came back and said "It looks like there are still some rooms left"
So if you are on the fence about going reserve a room anyway you have until June 11th to cancel.
Whoo hooo! I can't wait.

Thanks for the correction. That must have been recent. My call went through just a few weeks ago. I changed the number in the original post to the correct one.

Yes, this is going to be great. I need to get busy creating the details of our carabug out and carabug back itineries. Any suggestions? I think leaving on Tues would give us a more comfortable trip out with time for some side trips/detours.

I think we need to go north for the drive out since we meet up with other groups from the nation for the final push to Roswell. The trip back can be more southerly. I'm thinking via Globe, AZ. Earl and I did something like this some years ago (going to Rowell) and it offered some good rural/scenic roads as possibilities.

Just for reference, I stayed at the El Palaicio the first two Roswell shows. The a/c was abysmal and could not keep up with the desert heat :-( Just be forewarned... I will be staying at the Motel 6 just down the road. It is new and nice and will allow dogs unlike the Sally Port. Plus you can walk to the Tia Juanas restaurant. Oh and is $20.00 or so cheaper than the Sally Port.
