Brake Light Switch Recall

By now, many of you should have gotten the recall from VW of America regarding the faulty Brake Light Switch. If this part fails, those with automatic transmissions may not be able to get their car out of "park" because the defective part doesn't let the transmission recognize that your foot is on the brake.

If you have not gotten a recall in the mail, have your local VW dealership check your VIN# to see if your Beetle was one of the cars effected by this.

Back when I had my car in for another repair they had already done this for 'FuNsHiNe' so when I got the notice, my dealership just stamped the letter I received, for the record.

Also another downside to this is the brake light staying on :-( This happened to Rubee; the lights came on by themselves in the middle of the night. That was NOT good. No problems since the recall switch was installed!!!
