I only drive my truck about once a month since I got the NB. Was driving my truck today and saw all these old Beetles traveling together.

Thought you would like to see them. There were 10 of them. I only got these 8 in the photo. Took several but this was the best one. It is difficult to drive and take photos safely.
The rest of the photos are in my album at: http://picasaweb.google.com/RV6Condor/OldBeetles#
Gary:
That's nice that you saw the OBs (Old Beetles). These things are as popular as ever.
I went to the once-every-two-years show in Solvang a few weeks ago and these guys only allow 1967 and back OBs.
I learned that there is a very active air-cooled club in my area and one of the more active Ghia clubs in southern California. Some of these cars were in the article in the new Hot VW issue. They had a drive up Hwy 1 from Ventura some time ago with old VW joining them along the way.
Here's a link to the local Star news paper article: http://www.venturacountystar.com/news/2008/apr/10/beetlemania-by-karen-lindell-his-bug-with-a-rear/
The Ventura/Oxnard air-cooled club is having a pre-Christmas run in the Camarillo area and they have said that it is OK for us to join them with our New Beetles. Any takers? If so I will get the details. They also have regular runs that they are willing to have us join.

I wonder if our NB's will someday have the same iconic presence as the OB's...
Frank:
I'd like to think so.
When the new version of the NB comes out in a year or so I think that the first versions (NBv1?) will begin to be identified with the 1995 Concept One. It may take a few years, but I think it will happen. I suspect that the NBv2 will be radically different from what we now drive....maybe better, but not as iconic, retro-ly speaking.
Wishful thinking?

I just hope they don't mess with the curved roof line too much. It is so easy to get in and out the way it is now.
