I saw one at Barber VW some months ago. Looks nice in 'person'.

These special editions let us know that a new design/model change in coming sometime soon. I assume special editions sell a few more cars during the end of a model 'run'. This is the method VW used way back with the air-cooled beetles too.

Ah, this leads to more speculation about the future of the NB. I think we will see a lot more options like navigation, steering wheel controls, refrigeration compartments, etc. The New Beetle had great innovations for 1998, but has lagged way behind other VW models in the trendy options we all like so much today. Perhaps, the new version will push the envelope again (?).

Any options any of you would like to see in the next NB?

This is what the 2010 new bug is supposedly looking like... not sure I like it...

Maybe it's just me, but beetles are supposed to be round!!!

Looks Audi-like. Not as cute but who knows? I didn't jump for joy at the 2006 refresh but then bought one and now like it! Course it was not nearly as drastic a change...

I would like to see GPS and climate-control available in high-end NB's in future. And put the Tdi back in!!!!!!

I like an ice box and maybe a gps would be nice or a better hand book with all the info on gagets the bug has and how to use them that would be cool

I've also heard this edition called the "Bow Tie" edition.

Yes, the New Beetle was fairly advanced for 1998-ish technology, but really lags behind in gadgets when compared to 2009 models.

The last ten years has seen big advances in automobile technology.

Sad thing is that most NB owners really like cool gadgets in their cars. I do! I think VW has missed the mark on this issue lately with the NBs.

I agree Luke and sadly we have even lost some gadgets in recent years. Originally the NB's had a 12v plug in the hatch area, no more. My 2006 has fog lights and Homelink; my wife's fully equipped 2009 convertible does not. Guess to keep the price down?

I know my 2007 has the fog lights they done away with them now in 2009 the rims on the 2009 blush is plain compared to some of the spical editions nb in the past
