If you are planning to make the drive to Roswell, New Mexico this June for the 'New Beetles Return to Roswell' event (or R2R-10) here is the date, hotel information, BBQ invitation and dinner location for the final part of the trip.

1. Date: Weds June 24th, 2009 in Albuquerque, New Mexico

2. Hotel Info: Motel 6 @ 6015 Iliff Rd, Albuquerque (near Coors Rd and just off I-40 on the west side of the city), phone for reservation: (505) 831-3400, make sure you mention 'New Beetles Return to Roswell' or Sue Isley's name to get the room for the $35.99 discounted rate. Other hotels are also available nearby.

3. BBQ: After getting checked into our rooms, we will drive to Sue/Aaron's house nearby for dinner (and probably some pictures). That will be Weds night.

4. Carabug (or Caravan): Thursday morning the SoCal group will join with other groups at the Motel 6 (see above) to make the final drive to Roswell.

5. Thursday night dinner: Thursday night is the traditional weekend kick-off dinner at Tia Juana's Mexican Restaurant in Roswell. We should arrive early enough for drivers to check into their rooms at the Sally Port (Best Western) Hotel, do meets and greets ... and check out the cool New Beetles, of course, before heading to dinner at Tia Juanas.

ABQ Caravan... ers:

It looks like about a 1 1/2 hour drive from ABQ to Vaughn and another 1 1/2 hours to Roswell. I will assume (for now) that we should arrive in Roswell about 2 pm plus/minus. There was some talk from Earl that we would attempt to make calls between caravans on Thurs to time all caravan arrivals in Roswell together.

This may mean that some caravans will need to stop along the road for a while prior to 'hitting' town. I think that will be OK with all the drivers. I believe Earl was thinking we might get some local press coverage that we'd need to coordinate with in terms of timing.

So, based on this time table, I will set some preliminary times from ABQ to Roswell as follows:

- Leave ABQ at 10 am - this will give time for breakfast before leaving

- Arrive in Vaughn about 11:30 am to merge with other groups at noonish

- Leave Vaughn about 12:30 or so and arrive in Roswell at about 2 pm

This way we all get time to check into our respective rooms/clean up before the dinner at Tia Juanas restaurant Thurs night.

If there are other (existing) plans let us all know. This will give us something to work with for now and it may be the final plan.

I just called the Motel 6 and the lady didn't know what I was talking about when I mentioned Sue Isley or NB Return to Roswell discount, she said she would tell her manager and they would call me back, so I dunno
