I recently accepted the challenge to raise funds to support the Komen Salt Lake City Race for the Cure on May 9, 2009 in the fight against breast cancer.

I am running this event this year for my mom, who was recently diagnosed, and all the others who have had cancer touch their lives.

One in eight women will be stricken with breast cancer in her lifetime and the more we raise, the more the Salt Lake City Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure can give back to fund vital breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs in our own community and support the national search for a cure.

Please join me in the fight by pledging in support of my participation in the Race or contributing generously to Komen Salt Lake City. Your tax-deductible contribution will fund innovative outreach and awareness programs for medically underserved communities in Salt Lake and national breast cancer research. It is faster and easier than ever to support this great cause - you can make a donation online by simply clicking on the link at the bottom of this message. If you would prefer, you can also send your tax-deductible contribution to the address listed below. Whatever you can give will help! I truly appreciate your support and will keep you posted on my progress.

Thank you so much for your time and support in the fight against breast cancer! Every step counts!

I'm up to 17th overall in fundraising for this event! That's out of over 11,000 people. Thank you to all who have helped me so far! The event is in a little over a week, so all of you who are willing to help out with anything, please do!

Thank you all!

UPDATE: I'm sending this to all of you to give you an update on my mom. She had surgery yesterday and the Doctor believes that all went well. Thank you all for your well wishes, support and caring throughall of this. I have faith that everything for Margo will turn out just fine.
There are just 3 days left until I put on my running shoes and get out there on the street to show my support for this great organization. If you have not yet donated, please help me by donating to the cause. Every little bit counts and no amount is too big or too small. My goal is to be one of the top individual fundraisers in this event. Cancer has touched my life in a way that I really can't describe. I know that one of the best things I can do is to get out there and help raise money so that the proper research can be done to hopefully one day eradicate this issue for future generations. Please help if you are able.

You can donate directly to my efforts via the link in the first post of this thread. All of the money collected goes directly to the Komen Organization.

Thanks!

D!

Thank you in advance for all of your support.

WHEW! What a LONG and really amazing day today. The run this morning was awesome! There were almost 18000 people there!

I don't know if it's tabulated everything, but I ended up raising just shy of $6500 individually!! This was awesome to me not only because of the amazing cause, but also because I was the top overall individual fundraiser for the event and there was only one team who raised more. We've already got plans in the works for next year with a team of great friends out here. We just have to figure out how we want to market ourselves as a team. There were some great ones out there today. Some friends of mine were on the Bookin' for Boobies team. I saw a guy with a t-shirt that said "The Breast Whisperer" One team had "I Love Chesticles" on their shirts. And there were MANY others. It was a GREAT time. The event reached and surpassed their goal of over $250,000! This is great to see things like this getting good response in a down economy.

I want to give a personal thank you to all who supported and donated! It was a wonderful experience and I am glad that I was able to share it with all of you!
