This year is the anniiversary of my Mom and Dad deciding to make the move from
New Jersey to California. Me, being a young lad of 12, my older brother and younger brother and sister began our journey in the month of August in 1959. My Dad had a 1957 Ford station wagon with U-Haul trailer attached. Don`t remember too much of the trip, just that the Ford`s transmission blew in Grants New Mexico on Route 66. We had to have it towed to Gallup New Mexico. The Ford dealer there did the repairs on the tranny. I do remember staying in Gallup a couple extra days for the repairs to be completed. We spent a lot of time in the motel pool those two days. This years trip to Roswell will visit some of the same cities on the trip 50 years ago. It should be a lot of fun carrabuggin` to and from Roswell next month.
