I'm thinking of powder coating my rims white on my new triple white convertible. I got one quote for $300 for all 4. Does anyone have any experience with this or have a place they recommend?

Can they clear coat them so it will be easier for you to keep them clean?

OK, I don't have an extra set of tires/rims to put on my car while they powdercoat mine. I have someone who will jack up my car on 4 stands and remove the wheels, but it looks like it will cost a bunch to remove the tires and then remount them after they're done.

Anyone have any suggestions??

Hmm, White Wheels?

Sounds like a lot of cleaning to me! Brake Dust will be murder on those front wheels. You might give some thought to getting some of those aftermarket brake pads that don't make as much dust. I think Randy over at TVA sells them.

I have the stock wheels from my '99 and they still have tires mounted. You can borrow them for the time needed if you'd like. They'd look pretty strange on your 'vert, but at least you could drive it.

Also, the white wheels WILL accumulate brake dust and dirt. I know this from my triple white Rabbit 'vert. Look and see if you can get wheel dust protectors for that size wheel. I found some for other cars by searching the web, but not the VW models. They must be available somewhere.

These are plastic disks that are positioned between the wheels and the brake parts to keep brake dust off the wheels. This would help keep the wheels cleaner. However, they do not protect from normal road grime.

The dust shields work great if you can find a set for the NB. I had a set on my '84 Scirroco.

Glad you got your rims back in top condition. We all have to keep our 'babies' lookin' good.

Who did the repairs and what was the cost per rim?
