The US version of the Golf (now called the Rabbit, of course) is reportedly up for a significant body redesign for the 2009 model year. The chassis is to remain the same according to sources. I assume this is the 'new' platform for the 2010 (planned) New Beetle (see this forum under 'Future' for drawings of the possible changes for the New Beetle).
This picture shows the Rabbit taking on a more Passat-ish/Eon-ish front end look. I like the redesign.
