On Saturday, Sept. 22nd at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa will be the 8th Annual Cruisin’ for a Cure Auto Show. ALL proceeds go towards Prostate Cancer Research at the Jonsson Cancer Center of UCLA. This show is special to me, as my Father-in-law is a prostate cancer survivor, and I know first hand what it can do to a person. Of the first 7 CFAC shows, I’ve attended twice, and shown four times, the last two being in my VW. Don’t be intimidated by the Hot Rods, if you go you’ll see that people LOVE the VW’s! Rob D also showed his split window a couple years ago, but I'd like to see more IVVW'ers there. Fees are $40, which includes car show entry, two adult passes, and discount coupons to the adjoining HUGE Orange County Swapmeet. Kids 12 and under are FREE! There is a 1-1/2 mile cruise route where you can sit back and watch the classics roll by, or jump in your ride and cruise it yourself! Even if you don't own a show car, you will have a great time at the Cruise! There are lots of displays from the latest in military vehicles to the hottest in high performance cars, custom cars, and Street rods. Restored fire trucks will parade onto the grounds and be on display all day.

To print out an entry form, go to http://www.cruisinforacure.com/entry_forms.htm
Get your entry forms mailed in early, as they sell out EVERY year, and it’s limited to 3400 cars Because you are donating to the Jonssen Cancer Center, your entry fee is 100% tax deductible.
An article and a few pics on the 2006 show can be found at http://www.driveonline.com/content/view/150/85/
As the event approaches, I will post where we will meet beforehand to roll in together.

Hey Darlene and Mike!
For those on the fence about the show, I just got off the phone with the organizers of the event, and as long as the entry form is MAILED out by Saturday, September 15th, you will get your entry packet back in plenty of time! AS OF TODAY THERE ARE STILL SPOTS OPEN! This is one car show you will never forget..so many different makes, models, and styles of cars and trucks on display, it will blow your mind.
A group of us are meeting at the Coco's parking lot at the Green River exit of the 91 Freeway at 6:15 AM on Saturday the 22nd, and rolling out from there at 6:30 AM SHARP. That way we can all roll in together at the show and guarantee parking as a group.

We are really looking forward to this event, the cause is great & it sure looks like lots of fun. We'll try to make the meeting place that morning. Thanks for the info. Darlene & Mike

Myself, I'm going as a participant. You do not need to fill out a form to go as a spectator. Even though the gates open to spectators at 7, they'll stilll be parking participants till close to 9. It takes a while to park 3400 cars, even with opening at 4:30!
Mike and Darlene, look forward to seeing you on Saturday!

Hi Frank, we plan on having a really good time. I heard it might rain, I hope that isn't true but we'll prepare. I know if you were here you would do this one too. We thought this is a worthy & wonderful cause and had to put it on our calendar. We're missing a couple of other fun events to do this one but thankfully we knew way ahead of time. As for the pizza, what a tease you are. I have a feeling you might know every great pizza place in Chicago. I've only been in Chi-town once & that was a 3hr layover at O'Hare. You have a great time & enjoy yourself. Please share your good time. See ya, Darlene

Well, being born and raised in NY, I really prefer the thin crust stuff that I was raised on, but every once in a while a slice of Lou Malnatti's (sp?) thick Crust in Downtown Chicago hits the spot!

WEATHER FORECAST FOR SATURDAY'S SHOW IN COSTA MESA
(Per Weather Channel's website as of 9/18/07 @ 5:00 PM)

Partly Cloudy
High of 69°
10% Chance of Rain
Woo Hoo!! Let's hope that holds up, that's PERFECT weather!
I'll bring along a 10' x 10' Pop Up for shade to sit under (which could also be used for rain cover, but let's think POSITIVE!).

This year's event-held on September 23rd at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, Calif., was big. But it prompts a number of questions
