I live in Ojai, California and have two New Beetles: a black 1999 flamer coupe with a louvered hood and a stock 2003 Reflex Silver 'vert as well as other VW models (some are visible in the background of the photo).
My intent in modifying the 'flamer' was to create a street rod-look using only the original body lines of the car and keeping the look as smooth as possible: Boyd Coddington Smoothie II rims (8X18), reverse side and hood flames in 'Boyd Red', lowered one inch, custom front grill, Borla SS exhaust system and a tons of ideas still to execute. I think the lines of the NB look like the 1930s cars with separate fenders and round body shapes.
This summer (2007) I took this bug on a 6300+ mile Route 66 cruise with 18 other NBs (This is a BIG country!).
Thanks for reading this and taking a look at my 'baby'.
